Who Will Roll Your Stone Away?

Seeing the Light:
“And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back-it was very large.” Mark 16:3-4

Walking in the Light:
As we celebrate this season of Lent, I am reminded of the great boulder that was placed in front of the tomb as well as the four Roman Guards place at the entrance to assure that Jesus would remain undisturbed, as they recalled the prediction that Jesus would arise on the third day.
It was the third day after Jesus had been placed in the tomb, and the women were returning to anoint Jesus body, asking themselves “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” Some of us are wondering and waiting for someone (spouse, family member, doctor, pastor) or something (job, success, break through) to remove the boulder, thinking, then… we will have joy and experience victory in this life.
Some of us have boulders (sin, pain, hurt, suffering, lost dreams, disappointments, or guilt) that prevent us from seeing the power of God in our lives. We allow circumstances and people to define our worth and our expectations of what God can do in our lives. We are oblivious to the power within us because we allow the presence of these giant boulders to capture our attention. But...if we focus on Jesus we will see that the stones have been rolled out of the way, so that we can walk away from the things that hold us captive. The victory has been won. Through the power of Christ, the boulder is rolled away so that we may walk a bolder, abundant life.
Reflecting the Light:
  1. That boulder represented all the pain and suffering, ridicule, darkness that took place before the resurrection. If Jesus had focused on the boulder rather than the power of resurrection how would the climax of the resurrection story be different?
  2. What if we as Believers of Jesus allowed the boulders in our life to prevent us from experiencing the power of the resurrection?
  3. What is preventing you from experiencing the joy of your salvation?
  4. The victory has already been won. Do you have a victory story?  Share it with us.

Prayer:
Pray that God will help you identify the things is in your life that is preventing you from experiencing the power of the resurrection.

Read

Does your life radiate joy or happiness? Generally, happiness is on the surface and dependent on one's circumstances. But true happiness, is dependent upon one's belief system and their outlook in life. How do we find that kind of happiness when so many circumstances in life seem to rob us of that it? There are just times that we are so bogged down that any happiness seems impossible. If you are there or know someone that is there, you must meet Scott Hamilton.

I know, many of you out there will remember Scott Hamilton and his Gold Medalist, Olympic skater career, but if you read his book, The Great Eight; How to Be Happy, you will see another side of him. .  He believes that it is through other's trials and experiences in life that we learn to face our own. Therefore, he chose to share with you the very intimate part of his life, struggle with cancer and brain tumor, that you might be able like him to move above your circumstances. Rather than allowing his circumstances to make him bitter in life, he chose to rely on his faith to make life better. In his own words he says, "I have learned how to be content and happy no matter what is thrown my way." I too have applied his thinking to my life, and yes my faith also has helped me to look at life differently.

I do not for a minute promise that this book will be a quick fix for happiness in your life but I do know that as you begin the process of digesting this book you will have a different take on life. Maybe you have not had a great crisis in your life but let me ask you a question. When your friends see you are they asking, "Girl, what secret are you keeping from me, you are glowing?" because you are so full of joy, or do they pull you aside and say, "Honey, I see sadness written all over you, maybe I can help?" It's not too late for you or a friend. Go to the buy link above and purchase "The Great Eight" and let Scott help you find true happiness.

Share some of your own secrets or tips that you have found helpful in helping you keep optimistic about life.
